What is CREAR Futuros?

Funded by the Hispanic Federation, Inc., the CREAR Futuros (Create Futures) Peer Mentoring Program aims to strengthen student sense of belonging, retention and progression in college. The overall goal is to promote student academic achievement and career readiness, by providing a support network and guiding resources. While the Hispanic Federation designed CREAR Futuros to support Latino student success, students of all backgrounds are welcome to participate in the program.

CREAR Futuros 2025-2026 Mentors

Sofia Angeloff

I am majoring in Biotechnology and I am from Caracas, Venezuela. I am part of the Synergy Scholars Program which aims to promote research opportunities and workshops to undergraduate students. I have develop a passion for research thanks to an one year internship I did at UCF’s Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences in Lake Nona. I am also part of the CREAR Futuros team as a mentor.  In the future I hope to go to graduate school and work for a biotech company. A fun fact is that I love to spend my free time watching movies, series, and documentaries! My aim as a mentor is to ease your journey into college and accomplish every goal you have set yourself up to!


Daniela Melendez

I am a junior majoring in International and Global Studies with a minor in Latin American Studies. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with friends and family. A fun fact about me is that I am fluent in four languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian.

Santiago Romero

I am a senior majoring in Biomedical Sciences with the goal of becoming an anesthesiologist. Throughout my undergraduate journey, I have dedicated myself to community service and leadership, actively contributing to both campus and local initiatives. Outside the classroom and volunteer work, I stay active by playing soccer and working out. I am also currently learning Portuguese and Japanese to broaden my global perspective.

Maria Laura Carrillo

I’m currently majoring in Business Management with a focus on Entrepreneurship at the University of Central Florida. I’m passionate about helping others reach their full potential whether that’s through education, entrepreneurship, or personal growth. When I’m not studying or working on new projects, I love creating content, exploring new places, and diving into wellness and leadership books. Fun fact: I’m currently building a platform (my own podcast) to inspire and mentor young leaders through storytelling and real-life lessons. I’m so excited to meet you and be part of your journey!


Francisco Santiago

I am a transfer student at the University of Central Florida, currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology with the goal of becoming an IT Project Manager. As an entrepreneur fueled by curiosity and a passion for innovation, I’m always seeking new ways to create and lead. Outside of academic and business pursuits, I enjoy reading, skateboarding, exercising, and meditating to stay balanced and inspired. I look forward to connecting with others and hope to make a meaningful impact on fellow students through my work and involvement.
