Training and Guides

Our trainings offer practical tools and strategies to help you design with accessibility in mind. Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your skills, you’ll gain hands-on experience in building accessible content. Plus, you’ll have the chance to learn and collaborate with experts and peers. UCF faculty and staff can register through Workday Learning, while students and community members can sign up via Zoom. Digital Accessibility 101: Self-Evaluating for Beginners introduces the basics of accessible digital content. Learn key principles of inclusive design, WCAG fundamentals, and how to identify common accessibility issues in websites, documents, and multimedia. You’ll gain practical tools to begin evaluating your own content—no prior experience needed, just a commitment to accessibility.

How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office covers the core principles of document accessibility using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Learn how to build accessible content from the start and follow along with a hands-on demonstration to remediate an inaccessible file. By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to identify and correct common accessibility issues in documents. Participants should have a device with Microsoft Office installed to follow along.

How to Create Accessible PDFs introduces the basics of remediating PDF documents for accessibility. Learn how to tag content, set the correct reading order, and address common barriers in PDFs. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office beforehand to build foundational knowledge. A device with Adobe Acrobat is recommended but not required to follow along.

How to Create Accessible Videos covers the fundamentals of making video content accessible, including captioning and audio description. Learn various methods for captioning videos and get familiar with UCF’s approved captioning vendors and services.

Creating Accessible Designs Using Canva introduces the basics of designing inclusive digital content using Canva. Learn how to apply accessibility principles in Canva by using high-contrast colors, accessible fonts, alt text, and screen reader–friendly layouts. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible PDFs beforehand for foundational knowledge. A Canva account and device are recommended for hands-on practice.
