Services

We provide accessibility support through content evaluations, remediation, and consultations to help ensure your digital materials are accessible and compliant with WCAG standards.

For UCF faculty and staff use the options provided to submit your service ticket through TeamDynamix.

Open Lab

The Digital Accessibility Lab offers dedicated open lab time to provide support and general best practices for UCF students and employees without the need for a formal appointment. These sessions are designed for quick questions, guidance, and informal consultations related to digital accessibility. To schedule a formal appointment please email digitalaccessibility@ucf.edu.

Open Lab services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will be placed in a virtual waiting room and will be admitted individually as each session becomes available. Please note that participation in a session is not guaranteed, as availability depends on both the number of attendees and the time required to support those ahead of you.

Training and guides

Our trainings offer practical tools and strategies to help you design with accessibility in mind. Whether you’re just starting or looking to expand your skills, you’ll gain hands-on experience in building accessible content.

UCF employees can register for trainings through Workday Learning. Employees will need to search for the desired session to register, while students can join the sessions via the Zoom or Teams link provided in our available sessions with no registration required.

Available Sessions

Digital Accessibility 101: Self-Evaluating for Beginners introduces the basics of accessible digital content. Learn key principles of inclusive design, WCAG fundamentals, and how to identify common accessibility issues in websites, documents, and multimedia. You’ll gain practical tools to begin evaluating your own content—no prior experience needed, just a commitment to accessibility.

How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office covers the core principles of document accessibility using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Learn how to build accessible content from the start and follow along with a hands-on demonstration to remediate an inaccessible file. By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to identify and correct common accessibility issues in documents. Participants should have a device with Microsoft Office installed to follow along.

How to Create Accessible PDFs introduces the basics of remediating PDF documents for accessibility. Learn how to tag content, set the correct reading order, and address common barriers in PDFs. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office beforehand to build foundational knowledge. A device with Adobe Acrobat is recommended but not required to follow along.

How to Create Accessible Videos covers the fundamentals of making video content accessible, including captioning and audio description. Learn various methods for captioning videos and get familiar with UCF’s approved captioning vendors and services.

Creating Accessible Designs Using Canva introduces the basics of designing inclusive digital content using Canva. Learn how to apply accessibility principles in Canva by using high-contrast colors, accessible fonts, alt text, and screen reader–friendly layouts. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible PDFs beforehand for foundational knowledge. A Canva account and device are recommended for hands-on practice.

Creating Accessible Websites provides a practical introduction to web accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA best practices for developers, content creators, and website managers. Participants will learn how to identify common accessibility barriers and create more inclusive web experiences through accessible text, color contrast, multimedia, forms, keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools. The training also highlights accessibility requirements under ADA Title II, Section 508, and UCF policy.

Introduction to Digital Accessibility

This self-paced online course developed by UCF’s Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) is designed for students and employees to introduce them to foundational concepts of digital accessibility. Participants will learn key terminology, common disabilities, assistive technologies, relevant laws and policies, and practical strategies for creating accessible documents, media, and digital content—no prior experience required. Faculty and Staff must register via Workday and Students can self-enroll using the button below.

Siteimprove Training

Strengthen your team’s web accessibility and view our two Siteimprove training recordings and browsing their Learning Hub. One session covers essential admin tools including Site Management, Users/Roles, Groups, Dashboards, Policies, and Reporting. While the second focuses on accessibility scans, interpreting reports, and an overview of AI Remediate. These resources provide practical guidance to help you maintain more accessible, compliant digital content.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day at UCF

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) at UCF marks the Digital Accessibility Lab’s first celebration of this global initiative, bringing the campus community together to recognize the importance of inclusive digital experiences.

Through a featured webinar and related activities, GAAD highlights practical strategies, tools, and real-world examples that support the creation of accessible content across teaching, learning, and digital communications. Sessions explore topics such as captioning, accessibility in Webcourses, AI-supported design, and evaluating web content, encouraging participants to build awareness and take actionable steps toward a more inclusive digital environment for all.
