In professional settings, effective dialogue supports collaboration, problem-solving, and strong working relationships. Civil discourse emphasizes respectful communication, active listening, and maintaining focus during conversations. Participants will explore practical techniques for engaging in constructive dialogue, even when opinions differ.

Creating Accessible Designs Using Canva introduces the basics of designing inclusive digital content using Canva. Learn how to apply accessibility principles in Canva by using high-contrast colors, accessible fonts, alt text, and screen reader–friendly layouts. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible PDFs beforehand for foundational knowledge. A Canva account and device are recommended for hands-on practice.

Creating Accessible Websites provides a practical introduction to web accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA best practices for developers, content creators, and website managers. Participants will learn how to identify common accessibility barriers and create more inclusive web experiences through accessible text, color contrast, multimedia, forms, keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools. The training also highlights accessibility requirements under ADA Title II, Section 508, and UCF policy.

Digital Accessibility 101: Self-Evaluating for Beginners introduces the basics of accessible digital content. Learn key principles of inclusive design, WCAG fundamentals, and how to identify common accessibility issues in websites, documents, and multimedia. You’ll gain practical tools to begin evaluating your own content—no prior experience needed, just a commitment to accessibility.

As leaders, the people we rely on most (our “trusted circle”) often shape the way we make decisions, solve problems, and approach challenges. But what happens when that circle is too narrow? This interactive workshop will guide student leaders and educators through the “Trusted 10” activity, an exercise that highlights how our personal networks influence our choices. Participants will reflect on who they turn to most often, uncover patterns that may limit perspectives, and explore strategies for expanding their circle to include a wider range of voices, skills, and experiences. By the end of the session, participants will leave with practical tools to strengthen their decision-making and leadership impact.

The Knights Helping Knights Pantry was named because from the start it has been a community wide effort.  What started in 2009 serving a few students from a closet has grown to be an award-winning operation serving an average of 400 students of day while being primarily managed by students.  Come learn how the Knights Pantry runs, how to make referrals to the Knights Pantry, and use the Knights Pantry as a partner for academic service learning and department partner.

How to Create Accessible PDFs introduces the basics of remediating PDF documents for accessibility. Learn how to tag content, set the correct reading order, and address common barriers in PDFs. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office beforehand to build foundational knowledge. A device with Adobe Acrobat is recommended but not required to follow along.

How to Create Accessible Documents – Microsoft Office covers the core principles of document accessibility using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Learn how to build accessible content from the start and follow along with a hands-on demonstration to remediate an inaccessible file. By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to identify and correct common accessibility issues in documents. Participants should have a device with Microsoft Office installed to follow along.

How to Create Accessible Videos covers the fundamentals of making video content accessible, including captioning and audio description. Learn various methods for captioning videos and get familiar with UCF’s approved captioning vendors and services.

Student veterans bring unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives to the UCF community, but they may also face challenges which can impact their academic success, transition, and sense of belonging.  This interactive workshop provides faculty, staff, and students with practical tools to better understand the student veteran experience, recognize common barriers, and connect students with the resources available through the MVSS.

Digital Accessibility

Learn how to create accessible and compliant digital content that meets the needs of all users, including those with disabilities. We offer digital accessibility trainings that cover practical strategies, useful tools, and best practices to help you ensure your documents, websites, and media are usable by everyone. Consultations and Presentations

In addition to Faculty, GTA, and New Employee Orientations, the Ginsburg Center provides a variety of consultations and presentations as a service to the UCF Community.

Consultations:

A consultation is an individual or group meeting to assist in planning programs and events, expanding access for grant proposals, infusing the curriculum with engaging content and pedagogy in both new and existing courses, or discussing issues or incidents. Depending upon the circumstances, consultations may occur face-to-face, by e-mail or telephone.

Presentations:

Members of the training staff are available to make presentations to classes, departments, organizations, and student groups. We also facilitate sessions at team retreats. Our presentations cover a variety of topics, and, if time, personnel, and resources allow, we will tailor specific presentations to meet your unique needs.
