The Office for Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives enthusiastically announces the call for applications for the 2025 HSI Track of the Summer Faculty Development Institute. This in-person institute will be held May 5-7 (following the final examination period and commencement) in Classroom Building I on the main campus.
HSI Track
The HSI Track at the Summer Faculty Development Institute will guide faculty through Garcia’s (2023) Processes of Pedagogical Development at a Transformed HSI. Faculty will be selected based on a demonstrated commitment to strengthening pedagogy to better serve students in an HSI context by utilizing intentional and inclusive methods. Note: Spring 2025 HSI Faculty Learning Community participants will join newly selected HSI Track participants at the 2025 Summer Faculty Development Institute.

Meeting Times and Format
The institute will be held on May 5-7 from 9:00am–3:15pm. Participants will work independently and actively engage with peers during track sessions, in addition to attending institute-wide events.

Compensation
20+ faculty will earn $500 after full participation in the FCTL 3-day institute and submission of a reflection assignment. Compensation is subject to normal tax withholdings. Faculty participating in the Spring 2025 HSI Faculty Learning Community will receive their full compensation upon completion of the SFDI HSI Track (including FLC displayed/facilitated testimonio) and submission of the track 2-page reflection assignment.
Deliverable
The summer 2025 deliverable for the HSI track is a 2-page reflection based on one of the seven pedagogical development areas presented during the institute track. Faculty are asked to summarize significant takeaways from their track experience and describe potential strategies for transforming their respective academic courses, departments, or fields, in alignment with their chosen pedagogical development area. Reflection assignments must be completed and emailed to POTENCIAL@ucf.edu by May 7th at 11:59PM.
