Applying for services

Student Accessibility Services is responsible for determining reasonable disability-related accommodations for students with disabilities at UCF. If you believe you need accommodations, you must follow the steps below to begin the application process. Sharing your disability with other campus offices (such as Admissions, advisors, or faculty) does not start the official accommodation process.

All requests begin by completing the appropriate SAS accommodation application and meeting with SAS staff. Decisions are typically provided within 10 business days after your meeting, unless otherwise noted.

Accommodations cannot be applied retroactively and are in effect only after your accommodations have been approved.

Not sure if you may have a disability or if Student Accessibility Services is the right department to assist you? Take our brief survey to help you decide.

Requesting Accommodations

For student seeking accommodations for their classes such as testing accommodations, notetaking technology support, communication access, or other access needs for your lectures, labs, or internships please review our Academic Accommodation Application Guide for requesting accommodations.

Students must first complete an application for housing prior to requesting housing accommodations.

For students seeking on-campus housing accommodations such as:

  • Physical Accessibility or Floor Plan adjustments
  • Lottery Exemption or Waitlist Priority
  • Emotional Support Animal
  • Service Animal

Please review our Housing Accommodation Application Guide

Students must complete all application(s) that match their request before their SAS meeting, as SAS consultants will only review housing accommodations based on applications submitted in advance. For example, if you are requesting both a floor plan change and lottery exemption/waitlist priority, you should complete both applications prior to your meeting. If only one application is submitted, your SAS consultant will review only that request during your initial meeting, and a second appointment may be required to discuss any additional accommodations.

UCF Policy for Housing and Accommodations

If you are requesting both academic and on-campus housing accommodations, please submit both applications around the same time so your SAS consultant can review all requests in one meeting. Submitting all applications in advance helps ensure a more comprehensive and efficient discussion during your appointment. If only one application is submitted, your SAS consultant will review only that request during your initial meeting, and a second appointment may be required to discuss any additional accommodations.

If you submit an additional application after scheduling your meeting but before your appointment date and time, you must contact the SAS office to update your appointment so your SAS consultant has sufficient time to review all requests. Depending on timing and availability, your SAS consultant may not be able to address all requests in one meeting, and a follow-up appointment may be necessary.
