General Qualifications for VAWS

  • Currently enrolled student veteran and/or family member using VA Educational Benefits
  • Must have completed one semester prior to employment
  • Must be enrolled at least 3/4-time rate of pursuit for education (9.0 credit hours for undergraduate, 7.5 credit hours for graduate students)

SCO Assistants

Our SCO Assistants are our customer service representatives, assisting with the dissemination of general information regarding Veteran benefits and/or services, providing assistance to military students with general inquiries about Veteran Affairs benefits via phone, email, or in person, and maintaining and organizing veteran-related files.

Peer Success Coaches

Loyalty, commitment, and service before self does not end after military service. Peer Success Coaches have the opportunity to assist fellow military students become successful in their mission of transitioning to university life and completing their degree at UCF. You will help with time management skills, learning aids and answering questions about the campus resources.

Job Description:

  • Assist military students to successfully transition to civilian and academic life while at UCF.
  • Educate military students about the resources available at UCF
  • Increase military student involvement in student clubs and organizations
  • Assist with the development of the military student community where additional needed help may be provided

Programming Team (Event Assistants)

Event Team assists with producing, promoting, and executing social and academic programs for the Military and Veteran Success Center.

Job Description:

  • Attend and staff associated events (Not limited to New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, Veterans Month, MVSC Graduation Receptions)
  • Monitor and create content for MVSC social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram)
  • Support events with logistical and administrative support
  • Work as part of a team to develop and produce creative ideas for programs and events

Additional Qualifications:

  • Creativity and “outside the box” thinking
  • Passion for events and social media
  • Personable and excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends (Family Weekend, Graduation Receptions, etc.)
